If you are new to Scrabble, we offer a choice between two different modes that will significantly change your playing experience.

Classic Games

The “Classic” games are for players who want to focus only on the traditional gameplay. You can start classic Scrabble games with friends through matchmaking or play vs. the computer.

Scrabble GO

The regular Scrabble GO offers everything in the Classic version with many additional features and gameplay options.

Scrabble GO’s signature mode: reimagining the classic word game experience by introducing boosts like Bonus Swap, Quick Word, and Scrabble Scholar that let players learn and improve while playing.
Arena: A one-of-a-kind collection of daily and weekly word game tournaments featuring new word games such as Word Drop, Tumbler, and Rush.
Duels: Players face off on a smaller board, completing a real-time Scrabble match with limited time and turns.
Rewards: Gems, Arena tickets, League trophies, Prize Chests
Tiles: Personalize your experience by earning themed, playable 3D tilesets
Special Features/Events: Many new game modes and events that expand the world of Scrabble

How do I play a Classic Match?

You can play a Classic Match by following these steps:

Tap on “New Game” in the Home lobby
Scroll all the way down and tap on “Scrabble Classic.”
Choose or find your opponent and Start your Classic Game!

Where can I download Scrabble GO?

Is it free?

Yes, Scrabble GO is entirely free to play. In-app purchases are available to customize your experience further.

In what countries is the app available?

Scrabble GO is currently available worldwide on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Facebook.

What languages are available?

Currently, it’s available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish. To change the menu and interface language, go to your Profile> Profile Settings > Menu Language.

What Scrabble word dictionaries are available?

Scrabble Dictionaries supported:

English – US: Merriam-Webster and NWL 2020
English – US: NASPA Word List 2020 edition
English – UK: Collins official Scrabble Dictionary, digital edition
French : L’officiel du jeu Scrabble Larousse 2019
Spanish: Spanish Definitions and FISE 2017
Portuguese: Lexico 2017
German: Duden and JOR
Italian: Zanichelli 2021
Turkish: Tureng 2021

To change your dictionary, go to your Profile> Profile Settings > Word Dictionaries.
You can select multiple dictionaries in case you want to play with more than one. Remember to choose the one you prefer just before starting a new game!

Are there in-app ads in-game?

Yes. In-game advertisements allow us to keep Scrabble GO completely free-to-play and support the continued development of improvements and new features.

FIRST STEPS (Starting a game and finding my friends)

How do I connect with my friends?

There are three different ways to connect with all your friends.

Connect to Facebook – You can easily find all your Facebook friends by connecting your account with Facebook. Go to your Profile> Profile Settings > Facebook.
Sync your Contact list – With this option, you can connect your phone’s contact list with Scrabble GO – This will connect you with all your friends currently playing Scrabble GO. Go to your Profile> Profile settings > Contact List.
Use the Search feature when selecting your opponent to look for someone by Name or their User ID.

How do I start a Scrabble game?

Click on New Game from the main lobby, then choose one of the options:

Match of the Day: Play and get a Reward
Play vs Player: Choose your opponent
Random Match: The game will select a random opponent for you
Play vs the Computer: Choose the difficulty and play against the computer
Scrabble Classic: Play without boost

Where do I find my active games?

Your ongoing games are in the Home Lobby under the Active Games section. The yellow cards are the games where you are expected to play your turn, and the blue cards are games where you are waiting for the opponent’s turn.

How much time do I have to play my turn?

Scrabble games will automatically close if a player has not played their turn for seven days. If enough turns have been played, the player that failed to play their turn will be credited with the loss and their opponent with a win.

Players may also end a game at any time by choosing to forfeit by accessing the menu from the bottom left corner of the screen inside the Scrabble match and choosing “Resign Game.”

Where do I find my user ID?

Your User ID is located in your Profile Settings, which you can access by going to your Profile and clicking on the Profile Settings icon in the top-right corner (the ID number is at the bottom)

Note: You can tap on the User ID to copy it for easy sharing with friends

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a multiplayer feature?

Scrabble GO currently supports two-player gameplay in Scrabble. Support for three or more players is unavailable, but we will continue gathering community feedback for future consideration.

How can I check if a word is available or not?

To check the validity of a word, simply place the tiles on the board. If the word is valid and can be played, it will be highlighted in green.

What are the gems for?

With Gems, among other things, you can purchase Chests in the shop that can give you tickets to access the Arena and cards to obtain new tiles. Also, with Gems, you can use the boosts.

What are the red tickets for?

The tickets are used to enter the tournaments in the Arena. These game modes grant you trophies that place you in a tournament’s ranking. When the tournaments are over, the better your rank, the better rewards you will receive!

Why is there a limit on tickets I can have?

There are two different types of tickets in Scrabble GO. Tickets can be found in chests (received in Arena tournaments and other game modes). You can only collect up to 5 of those tickets.

The second type of ticket you get daily when you are a Scrabble Club member and in the chests you purchase from the shop. You can go above the cap ticket of 5 with those tickets.

Is there a list of all of the 2-letter words?

There is currently no in-game list of allowed words, but we may revisit this in the future.

Is there a skill-scoring system?

Scrabble Score is a personalized performance tracking and rating system for Scrabble GO. It tracks and measures your performance across all the various game modes of Scrabble GO and gives you a rating based on your performance. The more you play and the better you perform, the more your score will increase.

This feature is available when you reach level 10 in your player profile and is updated daily.

Is there a tile bag?

Yes, the tile bag is available in the bottom bar while you play a game of Scrabble.

Is there an in-game chat?

Yes, Chat is available in the top right corner of your scoring header when you play Scrabble games (speech bubble next to your profile picture)

Can I mute or report another player?

You can use MUTE, MUTE ALL, BLOCK, or REPORT if you need it in the chat options.

Mute – Mute will hide the chat text and stop all notifications of any new chat from this opponent.

Mute All – This option will block any communication with unknown opponents except Friends, Contacts, and Favorites. It can be activated and deactivated anytime from the Chat Options or the Privacy Settings.

Block – You will no longer receive game requests from the blocked players, and they will not see you in search results, recommendations, or view your online status. This is usually the best option if you choose not to interact with this opponent again. You may unmute or unblock a player at any time.

Report – This tool can be used in (but not limited to) instances of an offensive profile photo, harassment, sharing, or phishing of personal data.

Can I change my profile picture?

Yes, you upload a new profile photo from your device by doing the following:

Click on the Profile icon at the top left of your screen, then tap the camera icon on your profile image.
Choose “Edit Photo”
Click on “Upload”
Choose “Existing Photo”
Select your photo
Click “Save.”

For Facebook Connected players, your current Facebook profile photo is used by default for your Scrabble profile picture.

Are there auto-generated players in Scrabble GO?

Players joining Scrabble GO for the very first time will have the option to accept a game from a computer-controlled opponent. For players newer to Scrabble, these opponents help introduce the gameplay. All players are allowed to decline these games, but we expect that many Scrabble players may enjoy practicing their skills against them. The game allows you to play with your friends or other matched opponents through matchmaking, which generally aligns with your overall skill level in-game. If no suitable match is available, you may be paired with an auto-generated opponent.

What are the benefits of the Scrabble Club?

By subscribing to Scrabble Club, you’re given access to a wide variety of awards and benefits :

How do I limit the number of game requests I receive?

Tap on the request and reject it or check the Privacy Settings (Tap your profile picture > Settings > Privacy Settings in the bottom-right part). There, you can choose to appear offline or be hidden from the searches.
